Oct 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka will soon sign an agreement with Italy on labour migration as a measure to curb the illegal immigration of Sri Lankans to that country.

The two governments have held negotiations on reducing the trend of illegal migration to Italy and finalized a draft agreement for bilateral cooperation on migration of labour which is to be signed by representatives of the two countries.

The Sri Lankan cabinet of ministers acting on a proposal forwarded by the Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera has given approval to sign the agreement with the Italian authorities.
